A California man has been sentenced to 50 days in jail, three years probation, and ordered to undergo psychiatric and drug counselling, after he killed and dissected his daughter’s guinea pig for spying on him.
Thirty-five-year-old Benny Zavala, a methamphetamine addict, starved the animal to death, then hit it with a hammer, sliced it open, and ripped out its teeth. He told a neighbor he believed it had bar codes in its teeth and a camera in its head, which the government was using to spy on him.
After the murder, he called relatives and told them, “The good news is guinea bleeds. The bad news is guinea’s dead.”
